Rip My CDRom is a free CD ripping software tool the aim of which is to convert one or all tracks from an audio CD into MP3 or WAV audio files. When you open Rip My CDRom with an audio CD inserted into your drive, it automatically recognizes and lists all the tracks in the disc, and it is even capable of retrieving the cover and CD information from the Internet (using Amazon’s website).
The program’s interface is not very friendly, and it could have been designed with a much better look and feel. However, it tries to make the ripping task as easy as possible for the user. It basically consists of two tabs - Rip and Options. On the first tab you can find buttons to directly rip a selected track or all the tracks in the CD at once. (Unfortunately, there is no way to select only “some tracks” for ripping.) Here in this window you will also find an additional panel with a player to listen to the converted files as they are being ripped! You can also copy an entire playlist - or just a selection of files - to a disk location, or even delete selected files from the playlist directly.
The Options tab allows you to choose what format should be used for the conversion (MP3 or WAV) and also the bit rate (from 16 to 320 Kbps). Here you can also select the destination folder for the resulting files, and change the program’s appearance - you can use customized colors for the texts and background, and even pick an image file to be placed as background.
A very important point to take into account is that this program practically does not offer any help, neither on their website nor in the program itself.
